RM of Vanscoy’s story
The Rural Municipality of Vanscoy No. 345 sits in central Saskatchewan, southwest of Saskatoon. It was first incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909, under the name RM of Richland No. 345.
The name changed soon after. The article gives the switch to the RM of Loganton No. 345 as October 16, 1909, and the municipality took the name it carries today, the RM of Vanscoy No. 345, on April 16, 1934.
Today the RM surrounds the towns of Asquith and Delisle and the villages of Vanscoy and Grandora. Smaller localities within its boundaries include Asquith Station, Dunfermline, Hawoods, Pipin and Vade. The municipal office is in Vanscoy, where an elected council and an appointed administrator run local affairs. Rail lines and several highways, including Highway 7, cross the area.
